U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard R. Verma, has arrived in Albania to begin his visit to three Balkan countries – Albania, Kosovo, and Serbia.
Upon arriving in Tirana, Verma shared a photo with the caption stating he had landed in the “beautiful Albania,” while also revealing the purpose of his visit.
“I’ve landed in beautiful Albania! Excited to begin my visit and work with our partners to strengthen democracy, security, and support those in need,” he wrote.
Verma will stay in Albania, Kosovo, and Serbia from January 7 to 11.
As previously announced by the U.S. State Department, in Albania, he will discuss the country’s democratic progress, defense capabilities, and deepening economic ties with the United States, while also thanking “the Government of Albania for its continued support to our Afghan allies.”
In Kosovo, the State Department said Verma will discuss the normalization of Kosovo’s relations with Serbia through the EU-facilitated dialogue, strengthening governance and the rule of law, as well as encouraging economic growth and energy security for the benefit of all Kosovars.
Landed in beautiful Albania! Excited to begin my visit and work with our partners on strengthening democracy, security, and supporting those in need. @USEmbassyTirana
