Nevzat Lutfiu, the Chairman of the National Council of Albanians, announced a symbolic protest by Albanians in Bujanoc in front of the police station and the Basic Court. The protest was organized to address the alleged discrimination against Albanians by judicial authorities, who, according to Lutfiu, apply double standards when issuing fines to Albanians and Serbs in the area.
Lutfiu explained that the protest was in response to an incident where an Albanian from Bujanoc was fined hundreds of thousands of dinars and sentenced to one month in detention for a Facebook comment. However, he argued that the same standards were not applied when a Serb requested to bomb the building of the Albanian National Council (KKSH). Additionally, a police officer from Medveđa referred to Albanians as “rats” without facing consequences, a situation Lutfiu believes highlights systemic bias.
The protestors called for accountability from the police and prosecutors with the slogan, “Alo Police, Alo Prosecutor.”
