PDK leader Bedri Hamza has criticised the Hague verdict against former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders, saying it represents a serious blow to the resistance of the people of Kosovo who fought for freedom.
Speaking at a press conference following the judgment, Hamza said the families of the four former KLA leaders had carried the burden of the proceedings for six years and that Kosovo’s citizens shared their disappointment and anger.
“Their families have carried the weight of this process for six years. We are also hurt, disappointed and angry. All of us, the citizens of Kosovo, and all Albanians around the world,” Hamza said.
He questioned whether the verdict could be considered to have been issued in the name of the people of Kosovo.
“The decision delivered today was not made in the name of the people of Kosovo. The decision delivered today was made against the people of Kosovo and against the state of Kosovo,” Hamza said.
Hamza described the judgment as a heavy blow to the legacy of Kosovo’s wartime resistance and the people who fought for the country’s freedom.
