The European Union has reiterated its call for constructive dialogue, following statements regarding the closure of parallel structures in ten municipalities across Kosovo.

The EU emphasized that the status of structures supported by Serbia should be addressed through dialogue. Anita Hipper, the EU spokesperson, reaffirmed this position during a press conference, highlighting the priority of dialogue.

“We always believe in the power of dialogue. It is essential and necessary, which is why we strive for it and call on all parties to do the same. Our statement on this matter has been clear, and we urge constructive continuation of the dialogue,” Hipper stated.

Kosovo’s Response

Kosovo’s Ambassador to Brussels, Agron Bajrami, responded to the EU’s statements with three key clarifications regarding the police operation that dismantled parallel Serbian structures on Wednesday:

  1. The structures were illegal and directed by Serbia.
  2. No agreements exist that mandate negotiations over their future.
  3. The police operation did not incite tensions.

“To clarify: There are no Serbian-backed structures in Kosovo; they were illegal structures directed by Serbia. No agreement stipulates negotiations on their future. Today’s Kosovo Police operation did not provoke tensions,” Bajrami stated on Platform X.

Police Operations and International Reactions

On Wednesday, Kosovo Police dismantled parallel Serbian structures in Lipjan, Obiliq, Prishtina, Fushë Kosovë, Vushtrri, Novobërdë, Kamenicë, Viti, Rahovec, and Skenderaj, including parallel postal and tax offices.

The action received criticism from the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo and other accredited diplomatic missions in the country.
