Trump Signs Decree, Kellogg to Visit Kyiv After February 11
U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a decree officially appointing retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg as the special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Voice of America reports.
Trump stated that Washington has made “significant progress regarding Russia and Ukraine.” According to the New Voice of Ukraine, citing multiple unnamed American and Ukrainian sources, Kellogg is expected to arrive in Kyiv shortly after February 11.
High-Level Diplomatic Engagement
Kellogg’s first meeting will be with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Following his visit to Ukraine, he will travel to Europe for further discussions and will later attend the Munich Security Conference, sources indicate.
The New Voice of Ukraine also reports unconfirmed information suggesting that both Trump and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance may participate in the Munich conference.
‘A Reliable Plan’ for Ending the War
Kellogg was initially scheduled to visit Ukraine in early January but postponed the trip to better coordinate peace proposals, which he will discuss with Zelensky. These proposals are still being developed by the U.S. administration.
On Saturday, Kellogg stated that Trump has “a reliable plan” to end Russia’s war against Ukraine and initiate peace negotiations. The approach will reportedly involve applying pressure on both Kyiv and Moscow, compelling both sides to compromise and agree to a ceasefire.
Additionally, the special envoy emphasized that Washington supports holding elections in Ukraine, particularly if a truce agreement is reached.
