Several schools in Zagreb, Croatia, received bomb threats this morning, prompting evacuations and a heavy police response.

Bomb Disposal Teams Deployed

According to Croatian media outlet 24sata, authorities immediately sealed off affected schools, and bomb disposal experts conducted thorough inspections. After clearing two schools of any potential threat, students were allowed to return to classes. However, inspections in other schools remain ongoing.

Stjepan Mudifaj, director of the Fran Bošnjaković Technical School of Mechanical Engineering, confirmed to HRT that the bomb threat came via email, allegedly containing an Islamist-related message referring to revenge.

“As far as I understood from the email, it was not sent directly to our school but was a generated message. It seems like someone who has nothing better to do,” Mudifaj stated.

Major Security Response

The bomb threat caused disruptions in Osječka Street, where multiple schools, including a high school and a gymnasium, were placed under emergency lockdown. Students and staff were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Additionally, reports indicate that students from Požega High School were also evacuated following a similar anonymous tip.

Road Closures and Investigations Ongoing

In response to the threats, police sealed off Konavoska Street, where two major technical schools—the Electrical Engineering School and the Fran Bošnjaković Technical School of Mechanical Engineering—are located. Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the origin of the threats and whether they pose a credible danger.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm as security forces work to ensure the safety of students and school staff.
