U.S. President Donald Trump has announced what he described as a “historic” agreement for the Gaza Strip, outlining a comprehensive plan that includes the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups, the establishment of a new Palestinian government, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the deployment of an international stabilization mission.
In a statement posted on social media, Trump said the agreement had been reached through a “Peace Committee” and hailed it as a major step toward achieving lasting peace and security in the Middle East.
According to the proposal, implementation would take place in carefully structured phases. As Hamas and other armed factions are disarmed, Israeli forces would gradually withdraw from Gaza, while an International Stabilization Force, working alongside a newly established Palestinian police force, would assume responsibility for maintaining security throughout the territory.
The plan also calls for the creation of a new Palestinian government that would oversee Gaza’s civilian administration in cooperation with the Peace Committee, with the stated goal of improving living conditions for the Palestinian population.
Trump said the agreement would also strengthen Israel’s security by ensuring that Gaza would no longer serve as a base for military or terrorist attacks.
The U.S. president thanked Egypt, Qatar and Turkey for their roles as mediators during the negotiations, as well as members of his administration who participated in the diplomatic effort.
Referring to the October 7 attack, Trump said such an event “must never happen again” and stated that, under the proposed agreement, Gaza would ultimately be governed by a new Palestinian administration focused on serving its people.
In his statement, Trump described the agreement as a key milestone in implementing his broader 20-point Middle East plan, calling it a breakthrough that many had considered impossible.
However, as of now, there has been no official confirmation from Israel, Hamas, or the mediating countries regarding the implementation or acceptance of the proposed agreement. The details announced by Trump have also not yet been independently verified.
In his concluding remarks, Trump congratulated all parties involved, describing the agreement as an “incredible development” and expressing optimism that it could lay the foundation for long-term regional stability if fully implemented.
