Ferid Berisha, known by the nickname Commander “Shkupi,” participated in the “National Prayer Breakfast” in the United States.
He shared that he attended the event wearing the uniform of a veteran of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
He mentioned that he was deeply touched by the respect and gratitude of people who did not know him but thanked him for his military service.
Berisha stated that this proves that the sacrifice for freedom is recognized and appreciated everywhere.
“With a heart full of pride and gratitude, I want to share the extraordinary experiences I had during these historic days. It was a great honor to participate in the National Prayer Breakfast, dressed in the uniform of a veteran of the Kosovo Liberation Army. I was deeply moved by the respect and gratitude of people who didn’t know me, but who told me ‘Thank you for your service,’ proving that the sacrifice for freedom is recognized and valued everywhere. Equally emotional was the moment when we raised the national flag of Albania in Detroit, a symbol of our national pride and unity. The flag flew high, just as it has flown through the centuries in the hearts of Albanians all over the world. Finally, participating in the Kosovo Independence Day celebration at City Hall in New York was an unforgettable experience. Celebrating this great achievement together is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices and the dream realized for a free and independent Kosovo,” he wrote.
Commander “Shkupi” had led the famous “Black Tigers” unit.
