Milica Đurđević, the Serbian Minister for Family Welfare and Demography and leader of the right-wing party “Zavetnici,” spoke at the final convention of Germany’s far-right party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), which is contesting today’s early elections for the Bundestag.

During her speech, Đurđević referred to Kosovo as part of Serbia, a stance she said the AfD “understands.”

She mentioned, “Our people in Kosovo today are the most endangered ethnic group in all of Europe. The self-declared authorities of Kosovo are committing horrific terror against the Serbs who remain in their homeland, usurping our property, desecrating our sacred sites and cultural monuments,” as reported by Euronews Serbia.

She expressed belief that “the time will come when the world will remember that Kosovo was, is, and will remain Serbia.”

Đurđević campaigned for Serbs in Germany to vote for the AfD, a party that, according to her, has repeatedly spoken up for the Serbian community there.

She also proudly mentioned her own party, stating that she is honored to be part of a larger family of “national sovereignists,” who, she claimed, “deliver political blows to neoliberal globalists worldwide.”

According to polls, Friedrich Merz is the frontrunner for the chancellorship. The leader of the CDU is at the helm of the CDU/CSU Union, which, after 16 years of leading the country, moved into opposition in 2021 and now seeks to return to power. The AfD follows in second place with around 20% of the votes, double its result in 2021.
