Starting April 1, 2025, border crossings between Kosovo and North Macedonia will require only a single checkpoint, similar to the system in place between Kosovo and Albania.
The news was confirmed by Afrim Gashi, Speaker of the North Macedonian Parliament, who stated that technical preparations are in their final stages, while political and administrative aspects have already been settled.
“If you travel from Skopje, the checkpoint will only be at Hani i Elezit, without stopping at Blace. If you are coming from Pristina to Skopje, the checkpoint will only be at North Macedonia’s entry. Data will be shared between the two police forces, which will significantly speed up circulation,” Gashi said in an interview with ATV.
This change aims to facilitate travel for citizens, eliminate double border stops, and improve efficiency at border crossings.
