A oil reservoir at one of Russia’s main oil refineries was hit by a drone strike last night during an attack carried out by Ukraine, local authorities reported.

Ukrainian drones targeted the Kinef oil refinery, located near St. Petersburg, causing damage to the outer structure of one of the oil storage tanks at the facility, said the governor of the region, Alexander Drozdenko.

This attack is part of an increasing wave of Ukrainian strikes against Russia’s energy infrastructure, aiming to damage Moscow’s major sources of revenue.

Kinef is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, processing about 6.4% of the country’s crude oil supply, or 17.7 million tons annually, according to industry sources.

At the moment, there has been no official comment from Ukrainian authorities regarding this attack.
