The head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Aivo Orav, met on Tuesday in Kosovo with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and his deputy, Radmilla Shekerinska.

During the meeting, Orav reaffirmed the EU’s support for NATO’s mission in Kosovo, KFOR.

“Amid geopolitical challenges, staying on the EU path is crucial. The EU-mediated dialogue remains the only route to lasting stability,” Orav stated in a post on X.

NATO’s Commitment to Regional Stability

During his visit to Kosovo, Secretary General Mark Rutte held separate meetings with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti. These discussions reinforced Kosovo’s commitment to regional and broader security efforts.

In Prishtina, Rutte assured that the United States and President Donald Trump remain dedicated to supporting KFOR and NATO’s presence in the region.

Speaking about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Rutte emphasized the need for both sides to engage in compromise, despite the challenges this entails.

“Regional stability depends on all parties choosing diplomacy over violence. NATO will continue to fully support the EU-led normalization process between Kosovo and Serbia. This is the only way to resolve unresolved issues,” Rutte stated at a press conference.

To advance this dialogue, he called for flexibility from both sides.

“I understand that difficult decisions are required, but we must consider the bigger picture—for the benefit of all. This is the message I will continue to stress to all parties in the region,” Rutte concluded.
