The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, today marked the 26th anniversary of NATO’s intervention in Kosovo, calling it a success story of freedom and democracy.
“26 years ago, the free world stood by history. At a decisive moment for our people, when the Kosovo Liberation Army and our people were fighting against the genocide of the Serbian invader, NATO intervened in Kosovo,” Krasniqi emphasized.
He recalled March 1999, when the world’s most powerful military alliance intervened to stop the Serbian war machine and permanently remove the invader from Kosovo.
“Today, 26 years later, Kosovo is a free and sovereign state, a success story of freedom and democracy in the region,” he said, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to this historic achievement.
On this anniversary, Krasniqi also remembered the martyrs who fell for freedom, conveying his respect and condolences to their families.
“Eternal gratitude to NATO and all those who stood on the right side of history. Thanks to its intervention, Kosovo is free, and our freedom is everlasting,” he concluded.
