The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo has reiterated its call for the Government of Kosovo to adopt a unilateral preferential trade arrangement with the United States, removing customs duties on American products. The American Chamber welcomes and strongly supports the statement made by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, who echoed our call by requesting the suspension of all tariffs on American goods. This call emphasizes the strategic importance of deepening economic ties with the United States.
As stated in yesterday’s announcement by the American Chamber, such a move would be a significant and farsighted step that demonstrates Kosovo’s commitment to free and fair trade, positioning Kosovo towards a stronger trade relationship and the possible consideration of a Free Trade Agreement in the future. The long-standing partnership with the United States—Kosovo’s most important strategic ally—should be translated into bold decisions at the right political moments.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo believes that initiatives aimed at advancing the U.S.-Kosovo relationship, especially those based on sound economic arguments and shared values, should not become a subject of internal political debates. Instead, they require unity and swift institutional action, and therefore, we call on the government to focus on policies that strengthen the global partnership and the economic future of Kosovo.
