Elon Musk, the American billionaire and member of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, expressed hope today that a free trade zone could be established between Europe and North America, enabling trade without tariffs.

Speaking via video link at a congress of the Italian anti-immigrant party, League, in Florence, Musk stated, “Europe and the U.S. should ideally evolve towards a zero-tariff situation, creating a free trade zone between Europe and North America.” He emphasized that such a partnership would enable close cooperation between the two regions.

This statement came three days after President Trump introduced a 20% tariff on goods imported into the U.S. from the European Union (EU).

Musk, who has close ties with Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, also criticized “mass immigration,” suggesting that it could lead to the destruction of countries that tolerate it.
