Second Round of US-Russia Talks Begins in Istanbul

Today, the second round of talks between the United States and Russia has commenced in Istanbul.

A U.S. delegation arrived at the Russian General Consulate in Istanbul at 9:45 AM local time for discussions aimed at normalizing embassy operations between the two countries, according to Anadolu.

On Tuesday, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tami Brus stated that the delegations would meet for a second round of talks in Istanbul to address efforts to “further stabilize their bilateral missions’ operations.”

She emphasized that “there are no political or security issues on the agenda,” adding that topics related to Ukraine “are absolutely not on the agenda.”

The Russian delegation will be led by Russian Ambassador to the U.S., Alexander Darchiev, while the U.S. delegation will be headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary Sonata Coulter.

Before the meeting, Darchiev announced that some progress has already been made on a number of issues.
