Today, in the courtyard of the Main Family Medicine Center in Drenas, memorial ceremonies were held in honor and remembrance of the hero Dr. Hafir Shala, on the 27th anniversary of his disappearance.
The commemoration was attended by the Mayor of Drenas, Ramiz Lladrovci, municipal officials, representatives of the OVL-UÇK (Veterans Organization of the Kosovo Liberation Army), family members of the deceased, as well as other public figures, who laid wreaths near the statue of the first doctor of the KLA — a symbol of resistance and commitment to freedom.
In his speech, Mayor Lladrovci highly appreciated the vital contribution of Dr. Hafir Shala in serving the people and the cause of freedom, emphasizing that his memory will remain alive forever. “His deeds are carved in our history. He was not only a doctor of the body’s wounds, but also a healer of the soul of a suffering people,” Lladrovci said.
Even after 27 years, the fate of the doctor remains unknown. He, who helped hundreds of wounded, remains one of the deepest wounds of our state today — a wound that will not heal without the truth.
The memorials, held by his statue in the courtyard of the Family Medicine Center in Drenas, turned into a powerful moment of reflection, honor, and a call for justice for his sublime sacrifice.
Glory to the life and work of Dr. Hafir Shala! Glory to the Kosovo Liberation Army!
