The Assembly of Kosovo is set to reconvene tomorrow, continuing its inaugural session which first began on April 15.
The session is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM.
So far, the Assembly has completed the verification of mandates, established quorum, and seen the swearing-in of MPs. However, the process has stalled at the point of electing the Speaker of the Assembly.
Vetëvendosje (VV) has nominated Albulena Haxhiu for the position, but has failed to secure support from other parliamentary parties.
During yesterday’s session, Glauk Konjufca suggested that the vote should not proceed at all, citing opposition statements that they would not support Haxhiu. His proposal was supported by Avni Dehari, the oldest MP and acting chair of the session.
Dehari’s move was widely criticized as a violation of the Assembly’s rules of procedure. It remains to be seen whether the proposal for Haxhiu as Speaker will be put to a vote in tomorrow’s session.
