The Veterans’ Organization of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), along with associations representing the families of martyrs and disabled veterans, has called on Kosovo authorities to halt a concert scheduled for May 5 in Dragash Municipality, due to the involvement of singers from Serbia. If no action is taken, the veterans have warned they will take matters into their own hands and stop the event themselves.
In a public statement, the KLA veterans and other associations emphasized that the concert contradicts the feelings of the citizens and the dignity of the state.
“May 5 is a sacred day for the Albanian people; it is the Day of the Martyrs of the Nation. On this day, we proudly and humbly honor the supreme sacrifice of the best sons and daughters of the nation who gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy today,” the statement reads.
The veterans have deemed the event as a deliberate, unacceptable, and insulting provocation.
“Any attempt to relativize our pain and sacrifice on such days constitutes a severe violation of our national consciousness. This initiative is a direct blow to our national values and our glorious history of resistance,” the statement further declares.
According to the KLA Veterans’ Organization (OVL), the concert is being organized by Arog Fest, which announced that the festival aims to celebrate the culture, tradition, and music of the Gora, Zhupa, and Podgora regions. The program is expected to feature at least five singers on May 5.
KOHA attempted to contact the organizers through the provided contact details on their website and social media. The number listed with the Kosovo prefix referred them to a marketing agency with no direct connection to the event. An email has been sent, and the article will be updated as soon as a response is received.
