Russian authorities have arrested a suspect described as an “agent of Ukrainian special services” in connection with the car bomb explosion that killed Russian General Yaroslav Moskalik on Friday, according to the Russian state news agency TASS.
The Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) released a video showing the arrest of the man, who is accused of purchasing the car used in the blast in Balashikha, located less than 20 miles east of Moscow.
The FSB claimed the suspect placed the explosive device in the vehicle, which they allege was detonated by Ukrainian operatives. TASS reported the FSB’s statement that the explosion was carried out by Ukrainian forces.
The incident marks a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as both sides continue to clash over military operations.
