Despite widespread Western boycotts and calls for heads of state not to attend, three autocrats have confirmed their participation in Russia’s Victory Day Parade on May 9. Slovakia’s Robert Fico, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić, and Milorad Dodik from Republika Srpska will attend the event in Moscow, reports The Geopost.

Although Brussels officials have expressed strong opposition to Vučić’s attendance, the Serbian president remains resolute in his decision. He confirmed in Belgrade on Wednesday that he would travel to Moscow as planned to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism in World War II.

Vučić explained, “I’ve always had an open, sincere, and friendly relationship with President Putin, which hasn’t always been simple, but we trust each other. Eight months ago, I said I would go, and I will.”

Vučić further stated that he would likely travel alone and was prepared to face any criticism or backlash, both internally and externally.
