The Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Krenare Sogojeva-Dërmaku, held a collaborative meeting with Andrew N. Ferguson, the Chair of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, as part of her participation in the 2025 Global Privacy Summit, organized by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) in Washington D.C.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the challenges posed by advanced technologies, the work of the Agency for Information and Privacy (AIP), and the essential role of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission in protecting personal data and consumer privacy in the United States.
Additionally, the importance of international cooperation and the harmonization of legal and regulatory frameworks was emphasized, in line with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which aims to strengthen data protection standards in transatlantic data transfers.
AIP is an independent agency responsible for overseeing and implementing the Personal Data Protection Law and the Public Document Access Law in the Republic of Kosovo, with the primary goal of protecting individuals’ rights and ensuring transparency and accountability of public institutions.
