The New Union of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has announced a protest on May 1st, International Workers’ Day, to demand better working conditions and higher wages.
The protest will take place on Thursday at 12:00 PM in Skënderbeu Square in Prishtina.
In a public statement, the union emphasized that KEK workers face extreme exhaustion, constant danger, and daily sacrifice, stressing that “no amount of money can truly pay for this kind of labor.”
Key demands of the protest include:
- Salary increases
- Establishment of a labor court
- Respect for workers’ rights
- Implementation of the collective agreement
“We protest for a dignified wage and respect for our work,” the union declared.
Ahead of the demonstration, the New Union has also scheduled a press conference, where it will further elaborate on the demands and concerns of KEK workers.
