One of the vehicles that Pope Francis used to greet the faithful during his visit to Bethlehem in 2014 will be transformed into a mobile health clinic to help children in the Gaza Strip, writes Rks News.

This humanitarian project is being carried out by the charitable organization Caritas, with the support of the Vatican, as part of the Pope’s final wish to help Palestinian civilians, particularly children, who are facing the consequences of the war.

“There will be rapid tests, complete sewing kits, syringes, oxygen supplies, vaccines, and a small refrigerator for storing medicines,” says a statement from Caritas.

The Vatican clarified that this initiative was undertaken as “the Pope’s final wish for the children of Gaza” before his death last month. The vehicle is currently in Bethlehem and is expected to enter Gaza once Israel allows a humanitarian corridor.

According to UNICEF, since the outbreak of the conflict in October 2023, the war between Israel and Hamas has claimed the lives of over 15,000 children and displaced nearly a million people.
