Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, has traveled to Warsaw to attend a joint meeting of the European Union’s foreign ministers and the candidate countries for EU membership.

The meeting, organized by the Polish presidency of the EU Council, aims to create a platform for dialogue between EU member states, candidate countries, and nations aspiring for membership, with the goal of accelerating the EU enlargement process.

“During this meeting, Gërvalla will hold bilateral discussions with her counterparts from EU countries and candidate states, where they will address the latest developments in the region and Kosovo’s progress on its European path,” the announcement reads.

Kosovo applied for EU membership in December 2022. During the past period, the presidency of the EU Council has rotated among six member states: Czech Republic, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Hungary, and Poland.

The Czech Republic has accepted Kosovo’s application, but no other country has yet reviewed this request.
