Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine received no early warning from its partners ahead of Russia’s overnight attacks on Kyiv, which involved ballistic missiles and drones and damaged civilian infrastructure.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Zelenskyy said Russia had used more than 100 weapons of different types in the attacks, including ballistic missiles.

“Unfortunately, we received no early warning from our partners about this attack,” Zelenskyy said, stressing that intelligence on Russian ballistic missile launches could help save lives and was among the most critical forms of assistance.

Commenting on a proposed energy ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv announced by US President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy said Ukraine had refrained from attacking Russian oil refineries and the country’s energy sector for two days following the announcement.

He accused Russia of continuing to target Ukrainian energy facilities and critical infrastructure despite the initiative, arguing that Moscow had shown no intention of restraining its attacks.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine remained ready to take reciprocal steps toward de-escalation but stressed that effective pressure on Russia was necessary to bring the war to an end.

“Wars end when the aggressor understands that it cannot prolong the war,” he said, adding that global pressure on Russia could help bring peace closer.

He warned that direct or indirect support for Russia, delays in assistance to Ukraine and obstacles to protecting civilians from ballistic missile attacks would not contribute to peace. Zelenskyy called for strong support from the United States, Europe and other international partners.

One injured in Kyiv as Ukraine reports intercepting 88 drones

The Kyiv City Military Administration said one person was injured when an attack struck a residential building in the capital’s Darnytskyi district.

Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 108 drones overnight, of which Ukrainian forces claimed to have intercepted 88. It also said Russia fired five Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles at Ukraine from the Bryansk region.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum in Poland, said Kyiv continued to receive intelligence information from the United States.

Sybiha acknowledged that the air-raid alert during the latest attack had been issued late, but attributed the delay to the specific type of weaponry used by Russian forces.

His remarks came after the Financial Times, citing people familiar with the matter, reported over the weekend that US envoys had raised the possibility of suspending intelligence-sharing with Kyiv during talks with Ukrainian counterparts on Friday.

According to the report, the warning was linked to Washington’s demand that Ukraine halt attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.

The developments highlight the challenges facing US-Ukrainian cooperation as Washington seeks to advance de-escalation efforts while Kyiv continues to rely on intelligence support to defend against Russian missile and drone attacks.
