Kosovo’s acting government has responded following the European Parliament’s adoption of a resolution calling for the removal of punitive measures imposed by the European Union on Kosovo and for the conclusion of dialogue with Serbia through a comprehensive and legally binding agreement based on mutual recognition.
Speaking to Reporteri.net, Klisman Kadiu, advisor to the acting Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, called the EU measures unjust and unfounded.
“We welcome the stance expressed by the European Parliament, which calls for the immediate lifting of EU measures against Kosovo. These measures were imposed unfairly and continue to be maintained unfairly,” Kadiu emphasized.
The resolution includes a clear recommendation to lift the measures, supported by Riho Terras, the European Parliament’s rapporteur for Kosovo, who said:
“The measures have been unjust and unnecessary from the very beginning. The EU funds numerous projects intended to support Kosovo’s European agenda. This is why we must revoke the measures and allow Kosovo to advance.”
The acting government stressed that this political support from the European Parliament must now be followed by concrete actions from the European Commission and Council, reversing a decision that has harmed Kosovo’s development and integration efforts.
