The Specialist Chambers of Kosovo have expressed regret over the cancellation of the planned press conference with journalists, scheduled for today and led by President Ekaterina Trendafilova. The conference aimed to keep the public informed about the judicial processes in The Hague.
In their statement, the Specialist Chambers emphasized that their goal, as well as that of President Trendafilova, is to keep the public in Kosovo informed, given that the trials are held abroad, by providing up-to-date and clear information on any developments in this regard.
“This was the purpose of President Trendafilova’s visit to Kosovo this week, as well as the meetings with journalists, including the meeting that was scheduled for today, where the media could ask questions and receive answers from the court,” the Specialist Chambers stated.
The conference was not held due to protests by war veterans and other groups, who used prohibited means, including smoke bombs, to disrupt the meeting. The Specialist Chambers emphasized that although protests are a democratic right, it is regrettable that journalists were unable to ask questions directly to the court president.
