The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met with the High Representative of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, in Tirana, as part of the European Political Community Summit held in the Albanian capital.
This meeting took place following the confirmation that Osmani will not be in Kosovo during Kallas’s official visit next week, due to a previously scheduled state engagement abroad.
“It was a pleasure to meet the EU High Representative, Kaja Kallas, a long-standing supporter of a safe and united Europe. Since I will be on a previously scheduled state visit abroad during her stay in Kosovo next week, we held our meeting in Tirana,” Osmani wrote.
In a Facebook post, Osmani explained her absence from Pristina at the time of the EU representative’s visit.
“Since I will be on a previously scheduled state visit abroad during her stay in Kosovo next week, we held our meeting in Tirana,” Osmani repeated.
She described Kallas as a longstanding supporter of a safe and united Europe, while emphasizing Kosovo’s commitment to EU integration.
Next week, on May 21 and 22, Osmani will be in Switzerland, invited by the Federal Council of the Confederation, led by Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter. She will be accompanied by her husband, Prindon Sadriu.
“State visits are the highest level of diplomatic visits — even higher than official visits — and they happen very rarely. Therefore, this marks a historic moment in Kosovo–Switzerland relations,” the Presidency’s May 12 announcement reads.
