A recent photo of political analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu with Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić in the latter’s office in Belgrade has stirred intense public debate in Kosovo.

Ridvan Tahiri, a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), has publicly called on the Kosovo Prosecution to question Spahiu regarding the controversial visit.

“Mr. Spahiu should consider himself lucky that I am not leading the security institutions – otherwise, he would have faced the same fate at Kosovo’s border as his friend once did,” Tahiri wrote in a strong-worded statement.

He compared Spahiu’s meeting with Serbian officials to recent arrests of individuals suspected of collaborating with Serbia’s intelligence agency, BIA.

“He is an ordinary citizen, just like those who were arrested a few days ago for meetings and cooperation with BIA agents,” he added.

Tahiri expressed disbelief at the lack of legal follow-up.

“What surprises me the most is why Spahiu hasn’t already been summoned by the prosecution to give a statement about this visit and his contacts,” he concluded.

The meeting has sparked concerns over potential political and legal implications amid heightened sensitivities in Kosovo-Serbia relations. Calls for institutional action underscore deep public mistrust surrounding such engagements, especially when involving figures seen as influential or symbolic.
