Basel clinched their 21st league title last weekend, marking a highly successful season for the Swiss club.
Following the team’s triumph, midfielder Taulant Xhaka entered the history books as one of the most decorated players in the Swiss league with Basel.
This title was Xhaka’s seventh with Basel.
“Last weekend, the midfielder celebrated his seventh championship with the ‘red-blues.’ However, he will not be able to win another title as he plans to retire from football at the end of the season,” reported Blick on Sunday.
Scott Chipperfield and Benjamin Huggel also have seven league titles each with Basel.
Marco Streller leads with nine titles, while Philipp Degen is second with eight Swiss Super League championships.
