The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, said the message she left with Serbian authorities was clear — Serbia should advance towards the EU while clarifying its strategic direction and staying loyal to democratic principles.
“My message to the authorities in Belgrade is clear. I want to see Serbia advancing towards the EU. For this, political leaders must carry out necessary reforms and clarify the strategic direction. This is best done by restoring trust and adhering to democratic principles,” Kallas wrote on X.
Last night, Kallas landed at Belgrade airport where she was greeted by the Foreign Minister, Marko Đurić. She later met with President Aleksandar Vučić, who said the discussions included “key geopolitical topics, the security situation in the region, Serbia’s European path, and the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.”
Kallas’s visit to Serbia came after the Serbian president’s trip to Moscow and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This sparked reactions in Brussels, where the EU was called to take a clearer stance towards Serbia.
