Kyiv, June 2 – Ukraine has officially proposed holding a new round of peace talks with Russia between June 20 and June 30 in an effort to revive negotiations aimed at ending the three-year-long war, Rks News reports.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced the proposal following meetings in Istanbul, stressing the need for a direct meeting between Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin. However, the Kremlin has yet to respond.
The Russian side was represented in the talks by presidential advisor Vladimir Medinsky.
Despite the renewed efforts, Ukrainian negotiator Sergei Kyslytsya stated that Russia once again rejected Ukraine’s call for an unconditional ceasefire, arguing that such an agreement would allow Ukraine to regroup while Russian forces continue advancing on the ground.
