The United States has imposed sanctions on four judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing them of illegal and unfounded actions that, according to Washington, target the US and its ally Israel, reports Rks News.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the sanctions were imposed on Solomy Balungi Bossa (Uganda), Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza (Peru), Reine Adelaide Sophie Alapini-Gansou (Benin), and Beti Hohler (Slovenia).

The decision follows the ICC issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, related to their roles in the Israeli offensive in Gaza, which the ICC characterizes as accompanied by war crimes.

Two of the sanctioned judges were involved in the decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials, while the other two authorized investigations into suspected abuses by US personnel in Afghanistan. Rubio emphasized that the ICC has become politicized and exceeded its authority, endangering the sovereignty and national security of the US and its allies.
