Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), has renewed his call for a Government of Unity, ahead of the 29th attempt to convene the Kosovo Assembly, citing three months of fruitless negotiations and no clear majority.
“No one, after three months, holds a majority,” Abdixhiku stated, adding that this ongoing political stalemate represents both a crisis and an opportunity.
In his statement, Abdixhiku invited Vetëvendosje (VV), PDK, AAK, and NISMA to carefully consider his proposal for cooperation. He said that responsibility and courage are essential in this moment of national uncertainty, and announced that he will soon present a 15-point cooperation platform.
Full Statement Highlights:
“Tomorrow, we gather for the 29th time. Amid endless partisan battles, one truth shouts loudly—no one has a majority. So, the 29th attempt will end without a result—just a prologue to the next failure.
We’ve abandoned the people. The abnormal has become routine, and that calls for urgent action.
I still believe there exists a political consciousness that feels responsibility—for our people, for our state. We’re becoming an embarrassment both domestically and internationally.
I repeat my call to the leaders of VV, PDK, AAK, and NISMA to reconsider my proposal for a Government of Unity.
This crisis can be our opportunity—if approached with courage and accountability.
During this week, after completing internal consultations, I will unveil a 15-point Agenda—a concrete cooperation platform for the Unity Government, which I will offer to all political parties without exception.
Let it be understood clearly: Unity today is not a luxury—it is a necessity. Yes, Kosovo needs an opposition. Yes, Kosovo needs democratic balance. But before both, Kosovo needs a legitimate government, a functioning Assembly, a working state—only then can opposition fulfill its role.
Once again, I call upon the influential voices, the wise minds, and all those who feel the weight of this moment—to join this proposal. Speak up. Encourage others.
To reject is easy.
But to mock an entire people 28 times is a burden.
Let’s try unity. It might not be that bad.”
