Meloni calls emergency meeting after Israeli strikes on Iran

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has convened an emergency video conference with ministers and heads of national intelligence services following Israel’s massive strike on Iran. Italian media report that Meloni is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, particularly the crisis in Iran, writes Rks News.

At the same time, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani is holding an extraordinary meeting with ambassadors from regional countries to assess the impact and potential consequences of Israel’s military operation.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the region and has issued specific guidance for Italian nationals currently in Gulf countries.

The Israeli strike, codenamed “Am Kelavie” (“Lion Nation”), involved over 200 fighter jets and aimed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), dozens of military locations and strategically important sites inside Iranian territory were targeted.
