Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti visited the Pristina Book Fair today, emphasizing the profound role of books in society.

In a Facebook post, Kurti highlighted that the book is the primary tool for an open society and an open mind, as it brings spiritual and mental freedom.

Reflecting on Literary Heritage and the Future of Knowledge

Kurti noted that this year’s book fair marks several significant anniversaries: the 25th anniversary of the Pristina Book Fair, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Martin Camaj, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Faik Konica, the 200th anniversary of the birth of Pashko Vasa, and the 400th anniversary of the birth of Pjetër Bogdani.

The fair, he stated, underscores Albanian literary creativity and humanity’s earliest and most beautiful experiences: the relationship with the book. This year, approximately 2,000 new titles are featured, alongside about 6,000 titles from recent years, presented by around 100 publishers from Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, and the diaspora.

With the motto “Intelligence stems from the book,” the fair reminds us that “the creativity and power of thought articulated in the pages of a book touch new horizons and depths of feeling and sensitivity, knowledge and awareness that artificial intelligence can only covet.”

Kurti concluded by encouraging young people to explore and utilize the many titles available, from works by Albanian Rilindas (National Renaissance figures) to the latest publications, noting that the fair is open today and tomorrow.
