The family of Arbnor Spahiu, a former member of Kosovo’s Special Operations Police Unit who has been detained in Serbia for over a week, has issued a strong appeal to Kosovo’s state institutions and the international community, expressing deep concern over his continued detention, Rks News reports.

Misin Metaj, Spahiu’s father-in-law, issued a public plea calling on Kosovo’s institutions to act, voicing the family’s pain and disappointment at what he described as governmental silence in the face of injustice.

“Is there anyone left to hear the pain of their citizens?” Metaj asked emotionally, noting that his daughter Arjeta – Arbnor’s wife – travels to Serbia every day in search of justice for her husband.
“Is it the role of a state to turn its back on those who served it with honor? Where are our institutions? Where are those who swore to protect our citizens?” he wrote in a harshly worded statement, accusing the government of abandoning its people.

Metaj emphasized that this is not only about Arbnor, but about every family who believes in justice and the rule of law:

“It’s not only Arbnor who is suffering – it’s his family, his wife, and every parent who watches justice fade in the face of injustice. Enough with the silence! We are not asking for charity – we are demanding justice! We call on our state to wake up and defend its sons.”

In addition to Metaj, Spahiu’s parents and other relatives have also made a joint appeal to international institutions and human rights organizations, urging that the case not be ignored and that a fair legal process be ensured for Arbnor Spahiu.

“We appeal to international institutions, human rights organizations, and the public to not stay silent in the face of this injustice. Every individual deserves a fair and honest trial – something that is not happening in Arbnor’s case. We will continue to pursue his justice through legal and institutional means, with the belief that the truth cannot be denied,” the family declared.
