Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), has responded to the Constitutional Court’s decision, which mandates that the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the Assembly must occur through an open vote and within a 30-day timeframe.
Abdixhiku stated that the core of this ruling lies in the implementation of open voting, building consensus, and compromise — values that, he says, embody democracy and normal political conduct.
Call for Immediate Implementation
“Open vote – as has always been done – consensus and compromise – as democracy and normal political behavior demand. This is the essence of today’s decision. This is what we had always requested,” he declared.
He criticized the loss of dozens of parliamentary sessions due to what he called “the whims of imposition that were found unconstitutional today.”
According to Abdixhiku, the LDK expects the largest parliamentary group to respect the judgment starting tomorrow and to cease institutional blockades. “LDK expects the largest parliamentary group to act in accordance with this judgment, to end the blockades, and to contribute to the fastest and most orderly constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo,” he concluded.
