The Israeli Air Force today conducted airstrikes on the mountains above the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military stated these strikes were aimed at underground facilities belonging to the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah.

Since the US-mediated end of the war between Israel and Hezbollah in November, Israel has conducted almost daily airstrikes in southern Lebanon. However, today’s strikes were notably more intense than usual.

The Israeli military released a statement confirming that its fighter jets targeted a location used by Hezbollah to manage its fire and defense systems in the area. They described it as part of a significant underground project that had been out of use. The military added that it had previously identified attempts by Hezbollah to rebuild the facility and had struck infrastructure in the area. There was no immediate reaction from Hezbollah.

As part of the ceasefire agreement, Hezbollah was pushed back from areas bordering Israel in southern Lebanon and is not permitted to maintain an armed presence south of the Litani River. Today’s airstrikes occurred north of the river.
