President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met today with the outgoing commander of the U.S. KFOR Regional Command East (KFOR 34), Colonel Peter Helzer from the Oregon National Guard, and the new incoming commander (KFOR 35), Colonel Jonathan Lloyd from the Louisiana National Guard, reports RKS News.
During the meeting, President Osmani expressed her gratitude to Colonel Helzer for his service and dedication during his term in Kosovo, praising his contribution to strengthening security and stability in the country and the region.
On this occasion, she awarded him a Presidential Certificate of Appreciation as a token of respect and gratitude for his valuable commitment.
Following that, President Osmani welcomed Colonel Lloyd and assured him of the full support of Kosovo’s institutions in fulfilling his mandate and NATO-led KFOR’s mission.
“President Osmani expressed her deepest appreciation on behalf of the people of Kosovo for over 26 years of the presence of the U.S. Army in the country as part of the KFOR mission — a presence that has been vital for peace, security, and stability in Kosovo and beyond. She praised the continued commitment of U.S. troops in defending democratic values and shared security,” the Presidency’s statement concludes.
