Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that his party, Vetëvendosje, has made moves towards resolving the deadlock in the Assembly, but he noted a lack of movement from other political parties.
“Regarding the non-constitution of the Assembly, we have a little more than three weeks left. Sooner is better, but later is not an option. The President shares our concern about the deadlines,” Kurti said in an interview with teve1. “We also discussed open voting. We are the only ones who have moved, following the Constitutional Court’s decision. We said that if Albulena Haxhiu doesn’t get the votes the first time, she won’t run again.”
Kurti further explained their proposal: “Another point was to agree on a package for the composition of the Assembly’s leadership—the Speaker and Deputy Speakers. If we agree on this, we’ll return to open votes, where we vote for the entire Assembly leadership. We have made moves, but there’s no movement from other parties.“
He also affirmed that acting Speaker Avni Dehari has not violated the constitution, stating that if he had, the Constitutional Court would have indicated so.
