Albania’s Ambassador to the United States, Ervin Bushati, announced he has invited US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to visit Tirana, on behalf of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In a social media post, which included a photo with Rubio, Bushati wrote that Secretary Rubio “gladly accepted” the invitation to visit Albania, as reported by A2 CNN.
Albania: A “Miracle of American Diplomacy”
Bushati emphasized that Albania is a “miracle of American diplomacy.” He highlighted that from a country once known as “North Korea in Europe” under communist dictatorship, Albania has transformed into the “most pro-American and pro-NATO country anywhere.”
Ambassador Bushati’s full post detailed two main reasons for the invitation:
- Albania’s transformation from a communist dictatorship to the most pro-American and pro-NATO country, showcasing a “miracle of American diplomacy.”
- The message from a small nation with a “big heart like Mother Teresa,” which for the EU tomorrow will be “more love and more humble service.”
Bushati noted that Secretary Rubio accepted the invitation with pleasure, acknowledging Albania as a “contributor to NATO,” especially after his recent visit to The Hague.
Bushati concluded by stating that July 4th is not merely US Independence Day, but a “Declaration of Freedom & Democracy for our entire World.”
