The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed its diplomatic focus on the Balkans by sending a senior State Department official on an official visit to three countries in the region Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Kosovo.

Brendan Hanrahan, a senior official from the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, announced his trip through a post on the social media platform X. He noted that the visit follows key discussions in Dayton and Washington.

“This is a significant anniversary and a decisive moment for the Western Balkans. I look forward to strengthening the ties between the United States and the countries of the region,” Hanrahan wrote, referring to the anniversary of the Dayton Agreement — the peace accord that ended the Bosnian War in 1995.

His visit comes amid growing international calls for renewed dialogue and stability in the Western Balkans, particularly as the region faces political uncertainty and institutional deadlocks.
