The former Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has criticized President Vjosa Osmani and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, claiming that over the past four years, they have focused exclusively on the conflict with Serbia rather than addressing the country’s real issues.
In a statement for Gazeta Blic, Mustafa said the public discourse of Osmani and Kurti has centered around war and tensions, instead of economic development, education, healthcare, or citizens’ well-being.
He also warned that actions taken without coordination with NATO and international partners could lead to serious consequences and new conflicts in the region.
“For over four years, Osmani and Kurti have spoken every week about war with Serbia. That has been their focus. Not the economy, well-being, sustainable development, quality education, or healthcare. Unilateral actions taken without coordination with NATO and key international actors certainly carry the risk of conflict. Otherwise, what is the purpose of the international military presence in Kosovo?” Mustafa stated.
Furthermore, Mustafa called for transparency from President Osmani regarding alleged threats and her claimed role in preventing them.
“As President, Vjosa must tell the citizens what conflict was prevented recently. We cannot ask President Trump, but we can – and must – ask the President of Kosovo. What will she do to prevent such risks in the future?” he concluded.
