Plane Crashes at Southend Airport Near London, Emergency Services Respond Swiftly

LONDON, July 13, 2025 — A light aircraft has crashed at Southend Airport in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, triggering a rapid emergency response from local authorities and medical personnel.

The incident occurred shortly before 16:00 local time, when Essex Police received reports of an aircraft engulfed in flames upon impact. The plane, reportedly around 12 meters in length, crashed within the airport perimeter.

Emergency services responded immediately. The East of England Ambulance Service dispatched four units to the scene, including a rapid response vehicle, a hazardous area response team, and a senior paramedic.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of people on board or any casualties. The cause of the crash remains unknown and will be subject to investigation by the UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), which has been notified and is expected to launch a formal inquiry.

A spokesperson for Essex Police stated:

“We are currently at the scene of an aircraft incident at Southend Airport. Emergency services are working together to manage the situation and ensure public safety.”

Flight operations at Southend Airport have been temporarily suspended as a precaution while emergency and investigative teams secure the site.
