UK Urges Kosovo to Form Government “Urgently” and Fulfill Multi-Ethnic State Promise

The British Embassy in Kosovo has provided an update on the meetings held by Dame Karen Pierce, the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, with leaders of Kosovo’s political parties during her official visit.

The Embassy outlined Pierce’s calls for the urgent formation of a government, the fulfillment of Kosovo’s promise as a multi-ethnic state, and continued engagement in the EU-facilitated dialogue. Discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming Berlin Process Summit, which the UK will host in October.

Key Messages from UK Special Envoy

“During her visit to Kosovo, Dame Karen Pierce, the UK Special Envoy to the Western Balkans, met with the leaders of the Vetëvendosje, PDK, LDK, and AAK political parties to discuss the Berlin Process Summit to be hosted by the UK in October,” the Embassy stated.

Pierce emphasized “the importance of urgently forming a government that can promote the interests of all citizens of Kosovo.” She also highlighted “the need for tangible fulfillment of Kosovo’s promise as a multi-ethnic state and called for continued engagement in the EU-facilitated dialogue.”

Beyond political leaders, Pierce also met with the Commander of the NATO-led KFOR mission, Enrico Barduani. During this meeting, she reiterated the UK’s support for KFOR and acknowledged its essential role in maintaining security in Kosovo.
