North Macedonia is strengthening its defense capacities through the procurement of new military equipment that meets NATO standards, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced today.

Speaking at a ceremony attended by Army members, the Minister of Defense, and representatives of the international community, Mickoski emphasized that two contracts have been successfully implemented, bringing concrete results for North Macedonia’s defense system.

“I am proud to announce that the Ministry of Defense has successfully implemented two important contracts for the procurement of new modern military equipment—equipment that is fully in line with NATO standards,” Mickoski stated.

“This is not just a procurement. This is a vision for North Macedonia as a stable, secure, and prepared member of the NATO Alliance. This is a message that the state is becoming a force that stands on its own feet,” he added.

As part of the first contract, six howitzers—powerful artillery systems—have been purchased and already delivered, which will significantly bolster the Army’s capabilities. Additionally, the supply of extended-range ammunition is planned, with delivery and payment scheduled for 2026.
