July 18, 2025 – Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, today met with the Ombudsperson, Naim Qelaj, to discuss the current state of human rights in the country.
Commitment to Human Rights and Rule of Law
A statement from the presidency indicated that the meeting focused on the importance of human rights. “President Osmani emphasized the importance of close inter-institutional and international cooperation to guarantee and promote human rights for all citizens, without distinction,” the statement read. She also stressed that institutions must be committed to implementing the Ombudsperson’s recommendations, seeing them as a key tool for strengthening the rule of law and advancing human rights.
The Ombudsperson informed the President about the most frequent issues addressed by his institution. Both parties agreed on the necessity of continuing their cooperation to protect fundamental human rights in Kosovo.
