Pristina, July 19, 2025 — A crucial meeting between Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, and Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA), has concluded, sources close to both parties report.

The meeting took place at a local restaurant in Pristina. Security camera footage shows Kurti exiting the venue flanked by his bodyguards before heading towards his armored vehicle. Neither participant has publicly confirmed the outcome of their discussions.

The visit comes at an important juncture, as Kosovo remains in a political deadlock following recent elections. Despite several rounds of talks, key issues—including the appointment of a Speaker of Parliament—remain unresolved.

NISMA continues to press for the parliamentary speakership, arguing that control over the position is essential to balance political powers and ensure stability. Kurti, meanwhile, has emphasized the need for compromise to end the institutional impasse and begin the process of forming a fully functional government.

As of press time, no formal agreement has been announced. Political observers suggest that NISMA’s demand for the speaker’s role remains the most critical barrier to breaking the stalemate.

Further negotiations are expected as both parties weigh their strategic positions ahead of potential follow-up meetings.
